Wisconsin Bike Trip

In September 2011 Karla and I took a bike tour across Wisconsin. This has been a dream of mine, and was more enjoyable than expected. We were  able to ride through some of my favorite areas of the state, including the Kickapoo River valley, the Mississippi River valley, the Chippewa Flowage and Lake Superior. We also discovered some new areas and very nice small towns, such as the Blue Hills area and Durand and Cornell. We biked 549 miles starting on the Illinois border at the Point of Beginning south of Hazel Green, and ending on Lake Superior at Cornucopia. Life on the bike at 12 mph was a great way to experience the landscapes and small towns of Wisconsin, and a great way to connect with people along the way. We stayed at Mom & Pop motels (for the most part) and ate at local cafes and restaurants. We have many memories of the trip, and this portfolio gives a feeling of what we saw traveling slowly off-the-beaten path.
