Indiana Basketball Trip
Indiana Basketball Trip
Recently(March 3-6, 2009) I was able to spend four days in Indiana experiencing high school basketball. I was able to see six games in two gyms, and visit a half dozen other gyms in southern Indiana. This trip has been on my ‘bucket list’ for twenty years, and I was not disappointed. I saw some exciting basketball, including a game with a controversial ending, drove most of the way across the state on scenic back roads, met some wonderful people and experienced some of the history of this area. I visited Milan, the real life Hoosiers, and stopped by Springs Valley High School in French Lick to see where Larry Bird played, his jerseys hanging from the rafters. I hope to make it down for a few days next season to see games in several more gyms.
PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTES: Most of my landscape work is done with large format cameras. These formats offer the best in image quality, but are demanding, slow and cumbersome. For this project I used a Panasonic LX3 point and shoot camera. I enjoyed this very much and was impressed with the results. I shot in gyms at ISO800 with good results, and have printed up to 8”x10”.
